Help, My House Is A Mess! How to Organize A House

Okay,Your house looks like a junk den. You ponder how to organize a house and you want to do something about it, but you are overwhelmed. You have looked far and wide for a solution, and then you stumble across my site. You see "how to organize a house" and think to yourself "that is what I need!"

Well, You are in luck. I will walk you step by step in organizing your entire house. I will point you in the direction of what you need to use and why. So, let's get started.

Where to Start?

The big question with organization is always where to start. I always tell my clients to start small. Find the smallest area in your house and start there. It can be a drawer or a small corner of your living room. Wherever it is make sure that when you finish that small area that it will be a big impact to you.

Tools to Use

You can't start organizing your home without the proper tools in place. I always like to have on hand the following tools:

• At least four boxes (more if you have other categories) labeled:
• Toss
• Charity
• Another Room (for items that need to go in another

  part of the house) or you can use a Rattan Step Basket for multi-level homes.

• Garage Sale
• Contractor trash bags (they are super strong and can

  take anything)

• Clear plastic sandwich bags (for the visual person)
• Plastic storage bins
• Plastic trays
• Label maker, sharpie or labels

Once you have your tools in place you can start the organizing process by sorting and purging. Before you know it that little corner you started in will be clear. This is important, because that little area that you just finished will be the inspiration and motivation to carry you to other parts of the room and eventually to other parts of your house.

The main thing to remember when organizing your house is to not try to do everything in one sitting or even one weekend. It didn't take a day or weekend to get cluttered.
