Christmas Organizing for the Procrastinator

So the holidays are here and you have nothing done. Congratulations! You are not alone. Christmas organizing is not always a top priority for some. I usually wait till the last minute when it comes to Christmas shopping and decorating. It is a tradition in my house to shop on Christmas Eve!

Shopping Madness

Even though this is a little stressful, I get a kick out of it every year. Maybe one year I will get things done early.....Yeah Right!

Christmas is also the time of year when I get a lot of calls from my clients to come help put up decorations and get their homes in order for the holidays.

Because of this I want to give some tips for surviving the holidays...Procrastinator Style!

1) Keep it simple. Have just the basic Christmas decorations on hand. That way when you are decorating at the last minute it will take no time to decorate.

2) Buy Christmas cards in bulk and use your computer to print out your message. Then all that is left for you to do is sign, for that personal touch.

3) The above tip is for friends and colleagues. For family I would suggest setting up a card box that has all occasions in it. That way when Christmas rolls around you will have a card. I use greeting card software on my computer. It let's me have any type of card on my computer just waiting for me to personalize and print.

4)Try shopping throughout the year for family and friends. If you see something that they might like then get it and set-up a gift box or station in your home. Have all supplies for gift giving in this box or station. With everything together, you will not be running all over the house wondering where everything is. Also, by having a gift station you will not run out of gifts and you can wait till the last minute...because you are already prepared!

5)When shopping on Christmas Eve have a plan and list in hand! This is not the time to try and figure out what everyone wants. You are usually in a dog race at this time and by having a singular focus on what you need and where you need to go will help you to breeze right by the other procrastinators. Try to have a second and third choice on that list just in case it is already gone. (Which there is a good chance it will be since you waited until the last minute!)

A load of gifts!
